Dude, build a new box. New box < new sub and box = $ in your pocket. Bass response is all about the box.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Build a box with the following dimensions:
18" x 13.5" x 16.5"
Vent Dimensions:
1.25" x 12"
Vent Length:
22.75"
That is the box recommended by Alpine for the newer Type R's. It'll give you a 1.3 ft^3 box (after displacement of vent/driver) tuned to ~33hz.

dude, you should def. deaden and build a new box,
The above reasons are that with deadening it will get louder because you have less road noise, and you will get better response and less rattles.
New box, well its kinda obvious, 40 dollars of MDF vs 600 dollars for teh W7 and HO box.
Now to answer a question you asked earlier.
My friend has the HO Box with a 12W7 ( i have a 12W7 too )he has it coupled with the 500/1 and it slams his Civic Si 2001 , however the box is massive and he had to redo his camber and have several alignments due to the immense weight, IMO you could build a better box in far less space.
Stick with what you got and just build a new box, either way you'll gain positive experience and not spend too much $$$
