I am going to run my sony xplod xm-1652z in my 86 f150. I only have the room however for only one sub, but I am looking for the most possible thump I can get in a price range at most $200. I already ran this amp to a jl 12w6 6 ohm dvc sub and blew it to pieces.
here's some specs to go by
1000 x 1 at 4 ohms, 500 x 2 at 2 ohms   max
400 x 1 at 4 ohms, 200 x 2 at 2 ohms   rms
1.5 cu ft sealed box, but the box can still be ported if needed. Pick me out a nice one and help me bump the neighborhood....thanks      pick me out a new sub -- posted image.

any idea why you destroyed the 12w6?
we should figure that out before you buy a new sub.
your amp specs are a bit confusing, could it be:
400x1 @ 2 ohms
200x1 @ 4 ohms?

That 4 ohm rating is bridged, coppellstereo.  And I agree with you that a complete analysis of "WHY?" is needed before he blows another sub up.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

The dual voice coils were ran parrall producing a 3ohm load and the amp was bridged at 1000 x 1 @ 4ohms and i knew this was wrong because in this mode the amp is only stable a 4 ohms however i did have my main gain set at about 3/4 the way up.
The sub still plays well, but the foam seperated at the cone so i figured i should get a sub with a little more power handling both in peak and rms
Also the new sub has to be 12"

The foam seperating from the cone suggests something other then an amp problem. Was it exposed to sun or moisture?

Uhhh.. the amp only puts out 400 watts RMS bridged at four ohms and a 12" W6 is rated to 500 RMS. Your 1000 watts is a max rating a should be ignored. Again I would look someplace else.

A 12" JL W3V2 D2 would work, handle your power and be in your price range, but you might want to make your box slightly smaller.
