how do i know if the relay is a spdt and do i test pin 87 for neg output

With Relay not activated :
PIN 30 & PIN 87a = connected.......PIN 87 has nothing
With Relay activated:
PIN 30 & 87 = connected.........PIN 87a has nothing

what do you mean activated do you mean hooked up to the alarm and remote button preesed

relays are spdt i really do appreciate all the help you are giving me

Activation:
When PIN 86 has 12 Volts and PIN 85 has Ground PIN 30 & PIN 87a break contact and PIN 30 & PIN 87 connect.

sorry to sound stupid but what exactly do you mean does it have something to do with a volt meter

so while the relays hooked up i shouldn't have anything on pin 87 but when i activate it i shouldn't have anything on pin 87a  and pin 30 and pin 87 should be connected but what if its not what would be the reason it doesn't

If you have Connection on 87a & 87 at the same time, then you do NOT have a SPDT Relay or the Relay is Burnt........
