I have 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 RFD2112 12" DVC subs. I have a JBL GTQ400 4/3/2 way Amplifier that I will be powering them with. I also have an Infinity REF850W 8" sub that I would like to power off of the JBL amp as well.

I was thinking of using the front output of the JBL amp to power the 8" sub, and the rear output to power the 2 12" DVC subs. I'm not looking for earth shattering bass, but want something that will sound nice.

How would you suggest I wire the subs? Also since each DVC sub is rated at 500w, and I will only be running 200w for both, I was thinking of only using 1 voice coil of each sub. Is that a good idea?

I forgot to mention that the DVC's are 4ohm x 2, and the Infintity 8" is 4ohms.

One or the other, not both. The 8" is suitable for bass frequencies that are still stereo, mandating 2, and if you were to use it as sub-bass, (like the 12's) you will be gaining SO LITTLE in output, that you will be effectively wasting two channels of the amp. The best you will be able to safely do, with that amp, running both woofers and using all 4 channels is 4 ohms per channel. Wire the individual woofers in series for 8 ohms, and bridge the amp to two channel mode, connecting one woofer to EACH bridged amp channel. That, or wire one voice coil to each of the 4 channels of the amp. Electrically, it's the same.

The 8" Infinity is a replacement for the stock 8" sub. The 12" subs won't be in the car all the time, that is why I would also like to keep the 8" sub.

I also have a set of RF Punch RFP-1812 12" subs that are 8 ohms each, that I could use instead of the DVC's. Would it be better to use those?

OK, as far as I can tell I have 3 options with the equipment I have. All assuming I bridge the front channels for the 8" sub and use the rear channels for the 2 12" subs.

1) Use both voice coils of the DVC's and wire them to the amp bridged like this (Option 2):

2) Use 1 voice coil of each DVC and wire them to the amp in stereo like this:

3) Use my other set of 12" Subs that are 8 Ohms and wire them to the amp bridged like this:

Is that correct?

2 hx2 are plenty for what u want. depending on the amp's ohm tolerance, parrelle wire the subs in phase, then possiblly bridge it. should give u a 2 ohm load to your amp. hx2's are sick so they sound good anyhow
