I am fiberglassing a box that holds 4 twelves. i did the left and right side with fiberglass becasue of the curbs but i did the rest of it with half inch mdf. Im covering the mdf with fiberglass so i can sand it and make it glassy looking but i dont know how many layers i should put on it. Any help would be nice.. Thanks!

If it's a sealed enclosure & all 4 are sharing the same chamber then I'd say 1/2" - 5/8" thick would be enough. It will take you a while to do this but it will not flex either.

I use the fiberglass rule of thumb that I picked up from someone I worked with. Press the fiberglass in with your thumb, if it flexes put more mat on that spot to stiffen it up. Do this all around your fiberglass portion of the box until there are no spots you can flex with your thumb. Your subs won't put nearly as much pressure into one little spot as pressing in with your thumb does, so if your thumb doesn't flex it, your subs won't.

also consider your subs. i have a 13w7 and its heavy so my fiberglass enclosure is thicker to support the weight and the pressure the sub creates.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.
