Sound frequency?

I am doing another project for a buddy of mine. He has a 97 honda civic coupe. He wants to have a large sub 15 or a 12 to hit the really low freq while a lil 8 or 10 to pick up in the higher where the big left off. I don't know how this will sound. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about this? I wouldn't even know what subs to recommend. He likes his bass rather loud. I guess he just doesn't like one sub doing all the work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you need anymore info just let me know.

Sounds like a waste of time to me... While this can work, too much time (an associated expensive hardware) would be required to do it well, and a properly designed enclosure will allow the woofer to do a reasonably flat response from the limits of audibility to at LEAST 80 or 100Hz, no problem. If he considers 40Hz low (like most people who have never heard a true subwoofer do) then ANY 12" or 15" woofer on the market today would do just fine in a big ol' box vented to 40Hx, with a big HUGE 60Hz hump... THERE'S your loud! What woofer(s) are (were) you considering? Anything at all in mind?It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. for the big one he said that he liked the Image Dynamics IDMAX 12 inch 2 ohm. Which I was looking at some specs and their freq. starts at 10 really can't remember where it stops...

Not a problem, but I have a LOT of trouble believing you will EVER appreciate 10Hz in a car, and to get to 10, would require THE CAR as the enclosure... I stand by my previos suggestion. One woofer, realtively broad band. I wouldn't touch that project either.  It's another classic example of the "I want the best of both worlds" syndrome.Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

and the "i dont fully understand the automotive environment" but yeah, as mentioned i wouldnt want to try and deal with that project. although i would say the IDMAX woofer would be well suited provided a proper enclosure or an IDQ in Free Air, provided a good trunk2006 WRX STI

Yeah, I have veered him away from his previous idea. He listened to another customer, and we decided to with 2 12 inch Solo L7's or L5's if we can them to fit in a vented box in his civic...lol

Isn't it funny how a customer will latch right onto another customer's opinion?  Like, you know all the answers because...you're hiring someone to do it for you?  This time at least it worked out for the better.Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
