i hope someone can answer this for me...i have installed a quality system in my van..two 10" subs and a thousand want amp..not gonna go into specific brand...question i have is lately i have noticed a grounding problem either in my stereo or my amp(i can hear the disc rotating and getting set through my subs, but no engine noise)..i believe its a ground problem due to fixing my gain to appropiate lvl..could the ground problem be causing my battery to die when vehicle not in use or should i look into other problems????

No it wouldn't.  Check to be sure there aren't any stray wires from either power or ground that are loose and touching the opposing polarity.  If you can't find something specific with the system that is causing power drainage, it is somewhere else in the car's electrical system.  Or the battery is just shot.

Do you have the gain set correctly on that amp?  And the crossover?  And the system is set up like a pro would do it?  If this problem just recently started after you've had this system running fine for awhile, this is an indication that something either broke or is loose.  RCA wires are sometimes the culprit too, so you'll have to troubleshoot this piece-by-piece.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Another thing is to try to ground at another location for the deck.
