Can a DEI 551t add on remote start be added to a car with just keyless entry?

I want to install it on my wifes 2001 Grand Am GT.

Thanks in advance.

What kind of keyless entry do you have? If it has an auxilury output  on the remote you can do it very easily. This vehicle has a Passlock II system, so you will have to purchase the bypass for this install.

My Personal Installer Note: Connectors are easy, neat, and professional. But do you know how to crimp properly?

If you have an aftermarket keyless entry system then you can just use a spare -outpout to activate it.  But if you have a factory keyless entry system you probably shouldn't.  Sure it can be done but it probably wouldn't be reliable.

It has Factory Keyless entry. I knew about the passlock just not sure about the aux output.

Thanks I was looking for info on reliability.

I appreciate the responses, a full aftermarket remote start (not add on) is what I am going to go with.

Thanks again

Greg
