I'm installing a remote start for the first time, I've successfully by-passed the Passlock security, and have a few questions I wish to have answered before I continue. The vehicle is a 2 Door 1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT Sport, Manual Transmission.

1) Is the bulb test wire important when by-passing the Passlock 1 system? I couldn't find the "bulb test wire" and instead simply connected it with another one of the modules wires which recieves ground when the remote starter is activated. (The instruction booklet showed this in a seperate install diagram.)  The by-pass is working.

2) Does anyone know where the tach wire is closest to the steering column?

3) When by-passing the clutch for the remote starter, do you simply bypass the switch on the pedal? So as to eliminate this safety feature entirely?

1) the test light bulb wire is on the other side of the steering colum from your ing wires. It will be a black wire usually along w/2 red.

2) white wire off of coil

3) remote starter made for manual trans should be the only RS installed

Okay, i remember seeing the bulb test wire then. But, is there no place to find the tach wire in the car? I have to route one to the column I guess? But in the vehicle security information 12volt offers they say the tach wire is violet/white running off a "8 pin blue PCM connector in the passengers kick panel" any idea where that is?

Also, I really didnt get an answer to my clutch by-passing question, the Remote Starter is for a manual transmission but it still says a by-pass needs to be performed but offers no information at all on the subject... please elaborate!

I thought of another question too, does the passlock 1 bypass module have to trigger the remote start after its activated? through the remote starts "external trigger"?

For the clutch bypass, here is a portion of text taken from another post ( it will be the same for you ) :

I can't really tell you more clearly on how to wire this up other than this !! Wire it up as I have above and bypass the clutch activation.

Clutch Bypass Diagram

<>

On most vehicles that have manual transmissions, the clutch must first be depressed in order to start the vehicle. This ensures that the unit does not attempt to start the vehicle while the transmission is in gear. When installing a remote car starter that is designed for manual transmissions, you will need to bypass the clutch pedal if it must first be depressed when starting the vehicle with the key.

There are two types of starting systems on manual transmission vehicles that require the clutch pedal to be depressed before starting. The first is simple and very easily bypassed. This type of system simply runs the start wire from the key switch to a open-close switch at the back of the clutch pedal.

<>

Caution! Ensure vehicle is in neutral and that the emergency brake is set before testing wires at the clutch pedal!

<>

To identify if this is the system used on your vehicle, you will need to find the switch located on the back or top of the clutch pedal. On the switch you will find two wires. (Note on vehicles that have cruise control, there will probably be two switches on the clutch pedal. Use only the one that acts as described in this paragraph.) One of the wires will measure +12 volts only when the key is in the "start" position. The second wire will measure +12 volts when the clutch is depressed and the key is in the "start" position. Use the diagram above if this is the type of clutch system the vehicle employs.
