hey there all

i'm in the process of building a PS2 mount where my glove box used to be and i want to mount the PS2 on a piece of plexiglass  then light up the plexiglass with 4 12volt high intensity  green LED's  my question is how make the edges of the plexi look glossy or polished ?   i know that you can acetone on some plastics to acheive this  my question is will it work on plexi ?

to polish the edge of plexi use a wet stone. i dont know about the acetone, never tried it.
Prove your connections, use a meter!
I promise, I'll behave!

The best way is with wax and a buffing wheel.

sand down edges and buff out using a buffer or a drill press with a buffing wheel. buy buffing compund and wheel available at homedepots in tool section make sure you keep buffing wheel lathered with compound or it will burn the plexi.
exactly acetone will actually dull and crack plexi and lexan. dont use it to clean off plexi nothing.
also to make the edges stand out a dull look on the back side a smooth look on the side you see will make the light bounce off dull side toward

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

After you buff the edges with 220 grit and the scratches are gone, flame the edges with a small butane torch. This will heat up the plexi allowing it to gloss over and give you that finished look you wanted.

Jon, this has been one of the best techniques for plexi that I've used and it doesn't cost you anything except time.
