How's everyone, I am in the process of rebuilding my sytem in my expedtion, I just brout a sealed box with (2) 12 inch 1242d kenwood type r subs. Now my question is I was thinking about going with the memphis amps, I want to run (2) 500 series to the subs, but not sure , I see memphis st-500d and memphis mcd-500, which ones should i go with, and do i have to load the speakers into 2 ohms.

kenwood type r?  Do u mean alpine?  If you have 1242d's, then those r the dual 4 ohm vc models.  That means you could wire them in series/parallel for a total load of 4 ohms and power them with a single amp, or you could wire each one in parallel for two 2 ohm loads and push them with a pair of amps.  If you can afford an amp powerful enough, i would recommend the former, but you would need at least 750 watts rms @ 4 ohms to properly power those subs.  If you are going with the memphis 500, you'll need two, one for each sub.  I would recommend something along the lines of an alpine pdx 1.1000 for the pair.  Hope that helps.

I would go with the 2 memphis 500d since they are 2 ohm stable and you could wire a sub for each amp. If you wanted to kick it up a notch you could go with a memphis 1000d since the 1000d is 1 ohm stable just wire your subs differently to match the ohm load.

i am a little confused, i have 2 type r subs in a sealed box 1242d i believe they are 4 ohms, i see alot of amps that are running 2 ohms,  i manage to find a kenwoo 9102 mono @ 500 rms at 4ohms, i was going to get 2 of those to run to the subs, will this work good? i am not trying to take the subs out the sealed box to re wire

the new MTX amps are phenominal. I dont know how you are going to ask about a MTX amp and then downgrade and ask about a kenwood amp lol. Thats like comparing mars and the earth and asking which one would be better for humans to live on. lol

Kenwood KAC 9152D is 1 ohm stable. Best bang for the buck.
Memphis 1000D is a sweet amp also.

sure its 1ohm stable but last i checked kenwood amps were producing some pretty dirty power. Compared to MTX kenwood is complete crap.
