Dumb question (maybe),

When looking at amps, some say they run a certain RMS at lets say 2 ohms, at 14.4 voltage. My question is, how would you increase the voltage to a amp? would u have to run a seperate power line to the amp, and somehow decrease the resistence? ive been searching and am curious about. I really have no desire to use an amp at that voltage, atleast for now with the ones i have...

The only real way to up the voltage is to get a upgraded ALT.

Most cars run between 12-14.4 voltage, check your with a multimeter.

You really don't want to upgrade to anything more than 14.4 becasue that is what cars run off of. You don't want to take a chance and push more and fry your electrical system.

makes perfect sense, i actually checked my voltage by removing my fuse for the system and sticking a meter on it, it reads about 12 volts exactly. Would upgrading the big 3 and a new yellow top bat do the trick?

Ya upgrading the big 3 will help and should do the trick

Many Db Drag guys run 16 volts. They have 16 volt batteries and independant alternators feeding the modified audio gear. For everday listening, not worth the extra effort.

Rumor has it car companies are looking to 48 volt systems. This would help to reduce weight and therefore increase gas mileage. Electric motors are smaller, wire sizes are reduced and the alternator is more efficient. We'll see when this happens...

Wow...Um 48 volts to an amp??? Easy power then...Prolly fry most amps though.

well uping the voltage might do you no good anyways, Alot of amps use a regulated power supply that will only allow an amp to creats so much , or so little power, rockford fosgate amps actually have both in one regulated till 13.6, unregulated above that
