I would like to know what to use to shield my RCAs from the possibility of picking up noise from being to close to my ground cable. The one thing I did not plan for when making my amp rack, my RCAs and my ground wire cross each other under the rack.Oh well my first try at install, live and learn. Thanks!

Hey Bill, it's not the ground wires that you want to isolate your RCA's from. It's the power wires that you want to watch out for. The power wire induces engine whine that the RCA's pick up when run too close to gether. What you want to do to isolate them as far as an easy way is to run each down one side of the car and when they meet by the amplifier it's OK for them to be together, but try to limit the amount of distance they are touching together.

 Thanks Jeff

The power wires and RCAs are seperated on different sides of the vehicle, they are even apart at the amps , it's just the ground wires that they cross over, so hopefully there won't be any noise. Thanks again for the info !

PS: They do say that if they have to cross each other, do it at a 90 degree angle whenever possible.

Actually, power and ground are the halves of the same circuit- like the two prongs on a plug for a lamp. Ground will have the same exact current as the power for that specific piece of gear. Shielding is pretty much a dead effort in a car- run good twisted pairs and as above: avoid or do 90degree crosses.
