I am installing a Viper 550ESP in my 1999 Ford E150 Custom Van and want to make some changes to the unit that can only be accomplished with the "Bitwriter".

1. How do I get my hands on a "Bitwriter" or PC interface w/ software? (I assume I could use it

     with a laptop)

2. What "should" an authorized dealer charge me to re-program my unit?

Thanks for any input

if you go to a DEI dealer, providing the alarm brain is EASILY accessible, they shouldn't charge much if anything...it's only a 30 sec process. Maybe $5 at the most...

Alarm Tech,

Thanks for the prompt response. I checked with my "local" dealer via tel. today (Soundcrafters ~ South Daytona) and they gave me a price of $40.00. That alone would prompt me into seeking my own "bitwriter" or PC interface for my laptop.
