Doubling wattage

Go easy first post,  I heard some where by doubling up your subs your amp ( i have a rockford P3002 the chorme one)  will double its wattage?  My rockford P3002 is 900watt max and i was running it on 2 12' JL W3 bridged, NOW i want to run it on 4 8" rockford fosgate p28s4?  Will it double up?  Do you think it will hit nicer then the 2 12" subs?  Thank you all comments welcome even the hurtfull kind.Turbos and superchargers are like steroids in the big leagues, Seriously you need that?

First...90% enclosure 10% speaker. Second...welcome to the volt. We're here to help and learn. What you heard is based on crap. Amp will cannot just magically double it output power with double the amount of woofers...generally speaking. Your amp will only put out 300 watts rms bridged @ 4 ohms. Now if you install those 8's in series parallel the amp will still put out the 300 watts rms bridged. What are the impedances of your current JL's? Your amp is really only 600 watt max since max is two times the RMS. I'd say keep your JL's since Rockford punch series subs are not good quality at all...Main thing the cones are made of crappy plastic that will crack if you touch them...Cousin of mine has two P2 12's and I accidentally touch the cone during music playing and there's a 4 inch crack...doodiety subs. JL is known for their quality and the W3 series are very nice woofers. What you'll learn here will blow your mind. Just my 2 cents for now.

Yes those 8's will show a 4 ohm final load if they all are single 4 ohm coils. Are you really thinking about purchasing four 8 inch P2's though?? I wouldn't recommend that at all...With your current subs you can have a new enclosure built that will rock pretty hard and sound cleaner than the enclosure you have then in now. I would rate the Rockford Punch series subs a 4 on a 10 point scale and the JL W3's a 8 on a 10 point scale...See the difference in quality...Also JL is just badass. Rockford has gone to crap for the most part. What box your W3's in?

Some box i bought off ebay to fit my old car a 1998 Firebird,  Hit hard in that car.  The reason i want either new 4  8" or 4 10" subs is that i am going to be making a custom box for my new HHR.  I want the box to fit where theres some hidden space  http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=195&page=5 just over the spare tire.  The clearence is only 5" deep.  So when i make the box its depth will only be like 4.5" with a cubic of 0.75/1.0 all together for each sub.  (that is with 4 8" or 4 10". I dont really care the brand just liked there price.  So any recomendations on sub good 10" or 8" i was thinking MA, Infenity, Maybe getting some more JL W3's just in 8"Turbos and superchargers are like steroids in the big leagues, Seriously you need that?

Uhm, not always that extreme. The enclosure is very important, but I wouldn't say 90% as a rule. The enclosure should be designed for the particular woofer you are using and with specific intent.

It's "the12volt.com", not "the volt" although many of us know the12volt as Volt ;)

What he heard does have some merit to an extent. If his amplifier is rated at 300 watts @ 4 ohms, and he is currently running the amplifier with an 8 ohm load (150 watts), then yes, he could double the output by doubling the number of subs.

Yes, wire, I know this is The12Volt but for short I always just the volt...its easier. I see you've been posting more and have come out of the cave lol.
