On my 1974 Chevrolet Nova there is a basic pressure switch in it from the factory for the seat belt indash indicator. The sensor is about 3" square and about 1/4" thick uncompressed. It has two wires off of it to where one would go to ground and the other to an alarms negative sensor input. I would think any Chevrolet car from that year would have the sensor in the seat.

I don't have any pictures of it here at work but I can post it later. This sensor could be put below your seats upholstery but on top of the seat foam. Unless the seat upholstery is very, very thin I doubt if you would see any lumps where the sensor is at. Most seat leathers or vinyls will cover the sensor nicely with the foam pad underneath.
