I've decided after buying a new car, that I'm going to buy a new system. I've made up my mind on a 15" memphis mojo and a memphis mojo amp to power it. The new eclipse 7000 hu, eclipse comp speakers and eclipse amp to power them. Now the question I've got is, is it doable/worth to get a small 8" for the midrange bass, while letting the 15" hit the deep notes? I was looking at a JL w7 8", not quite sure which amp to power it.

I`ll be putting the 15" in a custom ported fiberglass box and the 8" in a sealed box.

Any suggestions or comments?

I would be headed to a pair of 12's over a single 15" any day of the week. Want loud, obnoxious loud and deep? A pair of DD3512's in a 5.25cu.ft. slot port box. !0" port and 60sq." of port face = stupidity at it's finest. Adding a 8" = a bandpass crossover and another amp + added nightmares with tuning, weigh the options as to what it is you really want the system to accomplish.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

WOW you don't see DD metioned to much on this site. Yes for the price and BASS DD is the way to go. Weight does becoome a problem with DD but well worth it!

you could just put the mid-bass driver out of a componet set as your rear speakers and then use the tweeter as an extra up front.

He is using the 8's as a mid driver not a sub.
Now I may be wrong, but as long as you have them crossed over like you are supposed to that should not be that much of a problem because you are using different frequencies.

Yes, I'd like to use the 8" as a mid driver, is this just a waste or would it be a noticeble difference?

Also, whats wrong with a 15" besides 2 12"s, just personal preference or is that a known fact?
