I want to build a ported box for a Alpine SWR-1242D but I dont know much about tuning yet. I have built sealed boxes but never ported. I plan on going to maybe Installers Institute later on but im only 17 right now. I listen to rap and want my sub loud without losing much sound quality. I know im probably gonna lose some sound quality with ported. I was lookin at the specs for the sub at crutchfield.com and it said to use a 9.9" tube with a 3" diameter. But then i looked at thecaraudiobox.com and saw them use a 2 long tubes for a single swr-1242. I want to make a box with fiberglass just on the top just for cosmetics. I just want to know what would sound the best and loudest with one of these subs. If anyone could let me know what the internal volume, port length, port diameter, and number of ports that I should have it would be awesome.

And I dont have an amp yet so if anyone could recommend a amp for this sub thats not to expensive what would be great

You could call the customer service or read the WinISD sticky...its a free box building program.

As for a good not that expensive amp...kenwood 9102D will work fine.

well i see how a thecaraudiobox.com boxes pound i watched their videos and they use huge tubes which is a huge difference from a 9.9" long - 3" diameter tube
