i unhooked my capacitor the other day becuase i was rearanging some stuff in my trunk. i reconnected it today but its not working. when i used to open my trunk the cap. light would go on. i didnt have it wired to the trunk at all. then it would shut off about a minute later. now when i close my trunk it doesnt shut off at all. i was driving today and listening to some music and looked at it and it was blinking completley random numbers. so now it sitting in my driveway and just blinking zero and it wont shut off? help please.

i drive a 01 pontiac grand am coupe.

If it's reading 0 and blinking, that's because the cap isn't getting power to it or the internal board is damaged. I had this problem this morning on a 1 farad cap and I just tested the wires to ensure that there was power on the (+) wire and used a resistor to power the cap up to 10 volts and applied the power to it. It works fine now.

Why does that site advertise the cap as 3 farad while the cap is really a 2 farad cap??

how do you properly disconnect a cap? someone said your supposed to dischage it or something not just pull the wires from it.

and mine came with a resistor. but i lost it, does anyone know where i  could get a new one? and how to you use the resistor?
