Also,  Your saying unless I get an amp for the speakers they'll end up sounding like crap?

Actually, I was saying that with a new deck, the sound would almost undoubtedly improve. New speakers, for the most part, will also really help. I just did an install with a nice poineer headunit and a pair of nice Planet Audio compnents, and was blown away at how good they sounded, just off of deck power. Plenty loud for most uses and enough bass to sound like a nice reference sytem. Don't be afraid of using deck power - just realise that it is limited in volume.

I would do like Jeff suggested, pull the chager out and have a look. If, as the literature seems to suggest, its alpine or clarion, you're set. Just look into one of those brands. I also remeber seeing somewhere recently a guide to the different changer plugs. If you found that, you might be able to find out what you have and what headunits are compatible. It might have been on an adapter website or metra or something? I'll see if I can't find it, but we'll see.

Thanks NyxBass for helping me realize that I should really clarify my opinion and add that adding new speakers will improve the sound quality and imaging ( if you use components ) but only at lower listening levels before distortion sets in. This distortion will not be present as quick,  if an amp is powering the speakers. Most new CD players will have some sort of sound improving option ( BBE, LOUD, BassEngine, etc ) that will undoubtedly improve the sound coming from your speakers but in the end, you are slowiy damaging your speakers.

If you pull it out, give us all the words, numbers, idents, plug shapes/configs and such that you can find, I'm sure someone here would be able to help identify it.

I know they make Eclipse, but other than that, I don't know about the changer.
