i just went to get my truck smogged today and my check engine light was on the dude had to clear the codes before he could smog it there was a radio code thats why my check engine light was on  i have done a complete rewire on my truck  im not useing any wires from the factory radio plug the dude at the smog place told me that they have been having this probulem alot latley and he said all u have to do is add a diode to the factory power harness he said that would be enought resistance to make the computere think that the radio is still instaled  i checked a couple of shops here and nobody has ever herd of this i trust the dude at the smog place because he is along time friend of the family has anyone ever herd of anything like this o yeah its a 1997 ford f-150

nope... never.. my dad, brother, and I all have late model fords, 2000, 1997 and 1999, with aftermarket decks.. no problems here..

The only time that I had heard of anything like that was in a navigator, something to do with the cruise control and the factory steering wheel remote went through the radio.  I have done hundreds of decks in these and there was only one.  It needed a resistor between two wires on the secondary harness.
