I have to of the lower end Soundstream 15's (piccaso Series) and a ported box with a Rockford Fosgate 2500 watt amp pushing it. I recently went to a sound comatition and the best I got was a 144.....is that ok? I was hoping for near 150.

For a setup that you use on the street 144db is a good score.    Many steet setups are only capable of 135-145db   so your towards the top of a true street setup
There are a few people who have a daily street setup that come over the 150db mark but there is alot of money and time involved in it
we have been working on a 2 sub street setup that you can listen to on a daily basis, and also run shows with.
We are slowly approaching the 150 mark but it has taken months of time and design to get there

Jeff- If you don't mind me asking, what drivers and amps are you using on that setup? Also, how does it sound with music?

I am thinking about building a different box with two slot ports and maybe make it a little bigger. I also may eventually sell my subs that I have now and get some that are maybe a little more powerful. I'm not really one that like to fool with 0 gauge wiring and crap like that.....no need for 3 batteries and 3 amps and such stuff haha. I just want a simple system that will blow all of the local "gangsta wannab's " systems out of the water haha if ya know what I'm saying.

Running 0 gauge may be required depending on what power your amplifier requires. You can buy the most exspensive equipment you want but if corners are cut on installing it properly it will sound like poop or other issues (lights diming etc......) nouse is right also if you build a box for the speakers you have now  then more than likely it will not be the right size for the new ones, just something to consider when spending the money and time to construct a box.

Right now we have 1 12" L7 with a kicker KX1200.1 on it.   It does 146.3db @43 hz
It sounds about mid for what I would like it to sound like.   It does the low notes for rap very very well, and also is very very tight for drums and bass guitars ect.   but the actual volume for rock music is quite lacking.
I intend to get the box for one sub nailed a little better before I go to (2) L7's with (2) KX1200's for a stret setup...That equipemnt is reserved for comp use only right now.

144db is deafening and will destroy your hearing in short order.  I really hope you are not driving around cranking a system like that...

Hey.....I am very good and constructing a box but the problem is the tuning......port size.....vent size.....all that stuff. I've tried and I will say that it sounds better than some other guys boxes but it still isnt what I want. Is anyone on here willing to draw me out some box deminsions that will be perfect for my subs?? And if so I would be willing to pay.........also I figure if I re-wire all of my stuff and make sure it is perfect and get a better box and make it vented I should hit near the 150 range....right?

I wouldnt expect to see more then a 2 db gain by switching boxes unless you go with a Pure SPL built box for comp use only then you might see a 3-4 db gain
150 is a real big # to go for without any aditional batteries 1/0 wiring or an alt upgrade
what type of shows are you competing in?
