Dead Battery 07 Suburban, dealer faulty

We installed a overhead and hk drive and play system in a 07 chevy sub..... Theres only 3 wires 12v, switch and grd. 12v is tied into the 12 to the left of the column and the switch is from the pink there and then its grd to metal. The car was having issues with the battery dieing overnight. The switched wire use to be tied into a org switched wire and the dealer claimed that wire caused itself to reset and keep draining power.... The switched was moved to the pink as it stands now and the truck shut off the other night on the customer and the dealer is saying are install caused the altenator to go bad. I think there is sometype of issue with the truck itself everything was tested with a meter and followed techsoft and is properly fused. I feel that theres no way this could have anything to do with what the dealer is claiming they have took 4 days and say they dont know whats wrong with it. When i told them to disconnect everything and then check it... Any help would be great

I hate to tell you, but you probably did cause the problem. On most newer GM cars and trucks, you can NOT use any wire in the ignition harness for power. You can't even run a relay off these wires as they are only very low current wires the BCM uses to reference the position of the ignition switch. You must find alternate power sources and usually need to use relays off the battery or underhood fuse box to handle any current requirements. It is possible you have damaged the BCM, but not likely the alternator. Don't follow wiring guides put out by companies, as they mislead you into believing that these wires can be used to hook up accessories. Those wiring guides are only good to indicate what wires you can power up to start the vehicle, not draw power from.sparky

I use only wires coming into the BCM for power on these newer GM's and not to mention the newer Dodge/Chrysler's as well. Jeff

The first time the org wire i belive was coming out of the bcm.... I did not install it another installer did... I however did move the switched I belive coming into the bcm howver its been a while since ive seen the truck. SO the best way would be to find a switched under the hood and run a wire in off that and use a relay?

I only use the BCM wires for the newer vehicle. No need to go to the under hood fuse box. The switched going into the BCM just as good of a source and no need to run into the hoode fuse box.Jeff
