I've been waiting to get a new RE XXX15 but my local shop wants to charge me full retail of $1600. I'm now trying to decide if I should change my mind and go with 2 Cerwin-Vega Pro 12's. Either way they will be running of a Hifonics Colossus II. The Pro's would be getting around 1600w a piece where as the XXX would get about 2200w. This will be in a suv. thanks in advance.

No offense, but you are crazy. All of the RE stuff was a great deal at their old prices before they got bought out. The new prices are just ridiculous and not worth it. I could build a nice system for less than the cost of one new xxx.

I havent really dealt with RE since US Acoutics bought em out so I was reffering to the old RE Audio I guess.  I remember when I bought a brand new XXX 12" for only $700...

I might try to go back and get him to come down on his price. What I don't get is that RE isn't well know here yet, you would think they would want to get the product out there first then make the money. I believe it was the owner of US AMPS that bought RE.

cloak559- I guess now people realize how good of a deal they were getting on the RE products in the past. Hell, you can probably sell your used stuff for more than what you paid new.
T.Hill you are correct, it was US Amps that bought RE.
Have you looked into DD, TC Sounds, or Sound Splinter? All make very nice drivers that will compete with a XXX.

Thanks for those ideas. I liked the TC-3000's the best just by what I saw on their website. 2 15's would get pretty nasty. Any idea if they are just spl or are they fairly loud and accurate? It would only run me $850 for 2 15's which is less than the full retail the RE guy wanted.

TC Sounds is nothing short of top notch. They also make Eclipse's subwoofer line.
Two 15" TC-3000's would just be pure evil. I've actually spoken with the people there before and they are all very nice and knowledgeable. Call them up and pick their brains about what you are looking for and enclosure options, I'm sure they would be glad to help.
