I need a relay that can handle a 2 gauge input/ouput and around 250 amps. I don't know what kind of relay it's called, just one that switches on and off with a 12v lead.

what in the world do you need that for? I dont know of anything that would do the job. Is it to turn on and off an amp?

A battery isolator is what you seek.  There are several different brands to choose from: Stinger, PAC, etc.
