new sub box tips apreciated

this is my box for my 88 cutlass that my grandmother gave to me and im freshly 16 and i would like help on if yall see anyproblems or potential problems that could become could you mention or just comment on progress..

What did you use for your mold fabric?  The bottom kinda looks like fleece but the top looks different.  Anyway....just make sure that there isn't a place on the box that you can push with you thumb and the enclosure flexes.  Be sure to put at least 2 layers of fiberglass chopped matt on top of the mold fabric and don't be scared to use alot of resin.  The stronger the enclosure is the better.  Oh yeah....try to stay away from particle board too...use MDF

I agree with xtreme...but I would do 4 layers of matting with the size of the woofers you'll be using. The Flakman

Yeah....a few extra layers won't hurt on that box with it being t shirt material.  You don't have to use as much if you will use fleece and pull it very tight.  I build dual 12 boxes and only have to use 2 layers of matt.  One on the outside and one on the inside.  Also be sure to strengthen the edges of the box on the inside where the t shirt material meets the mdf.  You don't want it to come apart.  You can cut up some chopped matt and glass it in the corners.  Also...you should cut the matt into squares maybe 4"x4" to make it easier when glassing the box.  Don't try to use a whole sheet when doing it....you will just waste a good sheet of matt because you will never get it to lay down right.  If you will go to www.installerinstitute.com and look at their picture galleries you can learn alot.  Also the www.alpine.com website will show you how they built sinister 6 

wish i had the bankroll to do a project like that and even if i did have the bank i don't know if i have half the talent those guys do to pull that off that is some great work don't learn something like that over night

oh yea box looks good so far but nothing wrong with the shirt thing that is how i started my first glass box but you can go to walmart and buy the same fleece that fishman uses and it is like 4.44 a yard here in kansas cheap and good so just thought i would let you know if you order that fleece from fishman or install bay its like 7.8 a yard i took a peice that i got when i ordered it from install bay and took it to hobby lobby and wal mart and found it at both places ceaper, just thought i would let you guys know

thnx for the comments im doing 2 layers of 24 ounce on the outside one woven and mat on the inside 1 layer of mat this is my first box and im only 16 so veteran help is appreciated

I always buy my fleece at wal mart.  I think it is $3.77 here a yard.  I bought some from the Install Bay one time but basically payed what they did for it and it was around the same price.  Go check out some of my installs at www.undefinedcustoms.com/memberrides/daryl.html if you haven't already and let me know what you think.  I'm also working on a fiberglass dual 12 box right now.....I think I am going to paint it this afternoon....maybe right now acutally.  Anyway...i just recommend everyone just trying to do some of this work.  It really isn't all that hard when you get the hang of it.  You learn from your mistakes and it is cheaper to learn from your mistakes and have to redo something than it is to pay a shop price to have something done.
