Most subs are disigned to one thing or the other, better. An SPL sub would be something designed to play loud, and an SQ sub would be something designed to play accurately.
There are some that will do both, but generally speaking, they'll all do one thing or the other better.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Go with a good quality SQ sub in a good box and then you can have the best of both worlds, as long as you have the power to back it up.
