I just upgraded and now having problems, my old setup was: 12" L7 Solo Dual 4ohm, wired in series. the amp was an alpine 600w, i bridged the sub back down to 4ohm from 8ohm. Now i got a new amp, an MTX 6500D Mono amp, the amp needs the sub to be 2ohm, so i rewired in parallel to get this. I hooked up everything, now the sub has almost no volume to it, and if you turn the gain up, there is a high pitched tone from the sub and the map cuts out. Any ideas??? All the wires were there already and worked fine from th old amp. Does ground issues cause this??  Someone please help me out!

 1) DOES YOUR AMP HAVE A BUILT IN X-OVER.

2) DO YOU HAVE AN ELECTRONIC  X-OVER.

If you have an electronic x-over be sure that your x-over on your amp is set to full.

I had some similar symptons with my amp used for subs when I had an electronic x-over included. I Took it off and used the x-over on the amp. Don't know why this happened but this solved the problem.
