Hey, I'm looking for the best 10" sub that will hit well for rock music. I'm also looking for a sub that will double as being good for rap/hip hop, as I listen to that secondarily after rock. Finally, I don't have a huge ton of cash to drop, so please give me names of subs that are affordable, too!

First, subs aren't designed for certain types of music.
The primary means to control the flavor of a sub bass system is via the enclosure.
So, the question comes back to you. How much space are you willing to dedicate to your enclosure? Can you build an enclosure yourself? Do you also need an amplifier? If not, what is your current amplifier? What is your budget?
We need more information for recommendations.
Any response like, "JL AUDIO 12WWW344xa for rock" are grossly shortcutting the analysis.

I prefer to have my subs in a small sealed box for rock type music. More punchier, tight and accurate. Atleast with MTX subs.

I listen to mostly rock and a bit of bass heavy tecno or rap now and then and my sealed box works great for all of it, it's all about the install.

hey im a new guy.

i listen to mainly death metal/hardcore but also enjoy rap and some techno. I have a 10" in a sealed box (VERY accurate). works good for everything, specialy if you are adding a sub to a stock system. i would THINK the goal is to hear ALL the music, not just the triggered kick drums and 808 hits (LOL)

You know it works when you turn it on an no one dies.
