What is the Big difference? 12Vdc

Hi. I have a CRV 2006 V4 and I am using it for work. I am using some equipment in the car and this is what I had observed. I have a direct wire tap from the battery (fused) to connect some equipment like laptop and/or other equipment. I noticed that my equipment had a problem with the voltage input if it was connected thru the wire directly connected to the battery but when I had connected it thru the cigarette lighter the equipment worked fine. The cigarette lighter socket has only 10A and my direct batt wire has a 20A fuse. What is the big difference why the cig-socket has better voltage output than the direct batt wire? Please explain. Thank you.

The lighter plug most likely has filtration built-in, such as a voltage regulator, capacitor, etc.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

What guage of wire to the battery and how long? Also do you have a sufficient ground?

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

I had connected the negative and positive wires to the batt by using an alligator clip that came with a power inverter kit. The size of the clip is approx. 3". The length of the wire is about 10 feet and gauge is probably 12. The wire has a switch and an inline fuse of 20A. Would it really make a difference if the wires are connected to the batt by means of a screw not just the alligator clips? Thanks for the replies.

Ok. I'll check out those connectors at an auto shop tomorrow and hopefully it will output a better voltage for my equipment. Thanks.
