High Pitched Noise From Speakers

My friends S10 has 4x10's in it and when he turns his music up loud they make a high pitched whistling noise, anyone knoe what is causing this?

Define the sound... a little description, please. Does the sound or pitch change with engine speed? Is it a constant noise? Does it change with the volume control of the deck, or is it a constant level...

Its sort of like the lower the bass in the song, the higher the sound comming from the speakers

Oh...people here are mistaking 4 in by 10 inch speakers with four 10 inch subs.

what in the truck was changed before it started making this sound?  check for shorts in the speaker wires.
