10 subs with no motor/cone noise

I am going to be running 3 10" subs in the back of my station wagon, and I need to make sure since there is no trunk that the cones/motor structures of the subs make absolutely ZERO noise. I had a pair of polk db subs that are a good example. I could play them free air with 150 watts going to them and get the cones moving a good 1.5" and still have no noise except for air coming out of the pole vent (which is acceptable). But I am also looking for a 10" that can hit the lowest notes of the audio spectrum (taking into account the surface area of 3 10's). So I would like a rather low resonant frequency. I am flexible on box size and power I am giving to them. Anything you guys can recommend from experience?fiberglass reminds me of peanut brittle... but fiberglass tastes better!

A speaker that makes mechanical noise is either a) poorly designed or b) poorly constructed or c) damaged or d) super crappy flea-market cheap or e) all the above.  If you hear sounds from the loudspeaker motor structure there is a problem with the speaker.  You should be able to use any good quality speaker and assuming it is not damaged hear no mechanical sounds from it.Support the12volt.com

It is also possible that the noises you heard weren't actually caused by the speaker, but from the amplifier clipping.  Or it could be that you were pushing the subs too far.  Keep in mind that mechanical power handling is a function of the enclosure used, free air requiring very little power to get to full excursion.
