Seriously though, I'm seeing a lot of places listing 11.4" as the mounting depth.

The minimum recommended face baffle for this sub is listed at 1". The mounting depth of 11 3/8" is considering that the sub is mounted through this 1" baffle, so the total size should be 12 3/8" plus another part of an inch for the cone surround that extends out past the baffle. But I don't have one handy to actually measure.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

concidering the enclosure size you'll need for a Solo X 18", I dont think mounting depth should be an issue...
