1997 Ford Explorer Viper 791XV Troubles

Installed a Viper 791XV in my truck about a week ago, but can't use it as it goes off at random. I have also installed the 506T glass break sensor and the 508D proximity sensor. I will arm the truck, and it will chirp twice, as if the door is open, but the remote does not state that a door is open. NOW if indeed a door is open upon arm, it will state this. Perhaps this second chirp is telling me something? I tried unplugging the 506T as I thought MAYBE the Ford delay timer relay clicking was setting it off, but the troubles continue. I have yet to unplug the 508D and see what happens. When I disarm, the remote tells me sensor 4 is what triggered the alarm. I don't know if thats the shock sensor or the proximity. The alarm really goes off at random times and is not at all predictable. I have even parked it in an empty warehouse and the S.O.B. still goes off. Any help would be much much much appreciated..i'm sure my neighbors would appreciate it to. Nick

Hmm, hard to tell, especially if those multiple sensors are wired up together. But I do have another idea. Check in the owner's manual..........usually there is some way to arm the alarm so that it monitors the door, hood, and trunk........but the shock sensor (and whatever else is wired with it) is ignored. Arm it like that, leave it, and see what happpens. It won't tell you which sensor it is, but at least it'll get you a step closer.

The shock sensor shows up as Zone 1 on the remote. Zone 2 is for the unused wire on the shock sensor harness. I would tie the blue and green wires of the 508D together and connect them to that wire. Connect the trigger wire of the 506T to the blue multiplexed input H1/6 on the main harness. When the 506T is triggered it will show up on the remote as the trunk, when the 508D is triggered a '2' will flash, and when the shock sensor is triggered a '1' will flash.
