I have built a few boxes using fleece to stretch to the shape I want. I don't really like using it, though. It's pretty thick. I was wondering if someone had an online source for somthing more like a sheet of pantyhose material. I know nothing like that is available locally as I have searched everywhere. So it would need to be an online source.

Thanks,

Jason

felt is pretty stretchy and not nearly as absorbant or thick as fleece.  easy to get too. just go to your local fabric store.

fiberglass reminds me of peanut brittle... but fiberglass tastes better!

I second that. Felt is good though, too.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Pretty much any polyester material would be ideal for fiberglassing work.

As for websites, we like yourautotrim.com. The're not the cheapest place, but give a strong spring for finding what we are looking for. Otherwise check the clearance areas of fabric shops and look for fabrics made of polyester. It'll give the best bond for the resin.

I was looking for super strechy material. It doesn't have to be thick, because I'm adding matt over top of it. I just need the initial material to give me the shape.

try something called polydex its like swimsuit material, you don't even have to staple it down you can use CA glue and it will hold it in place then you can resin it the matt it to make it thicker and it is very very strechy and ploydex= polyester and spandex cost more than fleece but it works good

it doesn't nessisarily have to be a polyester material. in some cases, an old cotton t-shirt is just fine. it really depends on how much stretch you need. the amount of resin it soaks up and how strong it will be are also important.
We didn't say it had to be polyester but most people use polyester resin for their jobs, using polyester cloth actually cures into the resin and chemically becomes part of the resin. Essentially it welds in rather than bonding via capillary effect. Cotton workds great too, just a slightly different physics in it.
