I have an 02 silverado hd extra cab. Were is a good grounding location for an amp? The amp is located under the back seat on the drivers side. I did ground it to the seat bracket but I think I blew my amp. I want to replace it but I dont know were to get a good ground.

Thanks

Anywhere on the chassis that doesn't: hit a brake/fuel line, hit the gas tank, go outside the vehicle where visible...
Basically do you own and don't rely on using a factory bolt. Also make sure that you clean the paint off the area where you ground.

Using factory bolts assumes that they were designed to be a good ground. This isn't the case especially with seat bolts. They go through the body and rust out or may be covered with anti-seize. I prefer the kick panel because it is dry, not exposed to the outside and in most cases has thick metal to screw into. G-man, you should also clean the battery ground cable connection to the body. It is above the driver's side two hook on the front bumper. I guarantee it isn't clean and rust free. Take out the bolt, clean away excess undercoating, buff the cable connector and replace the bolt with a new one. Spray the ground with rust preventative afterwards. Make sure that both battery cables are clean and tight to the battery too. Your amp shouldn't have died from this. Redo all connections and check for a blown main power line fuse. The fuse should be close to the battery.

Hey Sparkie, Ill take that advise. I did check the the main fuse and the fuses on the amp itself and they were fine.  One of the electrical tech's at the power plant I work at checked the amp. The power supply is fine but no sound. I dont have a schematic for this amp so Its hard for him to figure. Do you have any idea what may be blown. Its an eclipse 3650

Thanks

Ok, my post answered his question concerning the ground location. Not the statement concerning his amp blowing.

It is difficult to say what is wrong with the amp. Try test speakers and wire instead of whats in the truck to rule out problems with them. If nothing is found, then call around to find someone who can fix it.
