I purchased a used Alpine 9855 deck, it worked fine for a couple of months, then all of a sudden the screen would go into screen saver mode(all black) i guess its a feature on this deck. Well two days later seconds after i would turn on the radio the screen would go black and wouldn't come out of it, if i turn it off it comes on for about 2 seconds. also all the functions would freeze after about a minute. The deck gets a weird buzzy sound the faceplate and the front of the deck gets really hot and a burning smell starts to develop.
Does anyone have any sugestions as to what may be wrong? or if its fixable?
Anything would be of help.
thanks

Doesn't sound to good for your deck. Usually I would recommend resetting it and making sure the screen is not in the "blackout" mode, but the really hot and bad smell parts scare me.Call Alpine (800) 421-2284 and ask for customer service. Try to get a handle on repair costs and see if it's worth it .

Detach the faceplate and you will see a small red button. With a pick or paper clip hold it in for a few seconds.

I looked for the red reset button, didn't see it though.
Haven't had a chance to call Alpine yet.
