You can run two different signals into each of the two different amplifiers, and as long as you never overpower the woofer, you are still perfectly safe. You could use one 1000 watt amp on one voice coil, and one 500 watt amp on the other voice coil, 180° out of phase, crank 'em both, and you'll STILL have ZERO failure rate, as long as you do not overpower the woofer. READ THE ARTICLE from Dan Wiggins that I linked to. It's a pdf, so when you click it, and when it finishes downloading, you can even keep it on your computer for handy reference later.
IT IS PERFECTLY SAFE TO RUN TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SIGNALS TO A DUAL VOICE COIL WOOFER - they do not have to be the same...
