fiberglassing

ok so i have done everything up to mixing the resin with the bondo glass filler....my question is ....do i need a cover or will it sound as good without a fiberglass cover..and does anyone have like a free website or something where i can find exact step by step info on how to make a really nice custom box not just a normal one ..

searching on the forum will reveal a lot. you might have to go back a page. in summary; you clean the area you want the box to go in, tape it off, wax paper, whatever, and lay fiberglass to follow the contours of the box area (side walls of trucks, kick panels, whatever). lay fiber in, and then trim it when dry to show the back profile of the box. cut your mdf, and mount it with dowel rod to get the soun stage angle you want on it... screw or glue in place, personal preference. lay grill cloth (if you wanna go best) or fleece, over all of this, pulling tight and stapleing or glueing it to surfaces. the tighter it is, the nicer it follows and creates contours. resin the hell outta the cloth, then start to lay mat down on that. make the mat thick. a good rule i saw on a site was if you can stand on the box and it don't break, you got a good thing going. maybe you don't have to be that ridgid but it might help. sand, bondo, sand, red gold, sand, prime, paint clear. don't forget to make arrangements for a connection inthe back, and wiring in the core, usually doable through the speaker hole you leave open. like i was saying you can usually find a dozen and two pictures without trying hard showing the process as i summarized it here.
