yes the weather stripping got thrown away . no other parts got any fiberglass on it but that . the cover is at the bottom of the weatherstripping lip so it will still close just like stock

i got a couple questions . how many layers of mat should i use on the cover ? i have 3 layers of 2 oz mat + the fleece and it seems pretty strong . also do u guys got any ideas on mounting the cover so it doesnt viberate ?

Is the cover that your referring to going to be the actual cover of the enclosure or just another peice that will cover on top on the enclosure for asthetic reasons ? The 3 layers that you have will suffice ( for asthetics ) seeing that you also will need to smooth it out with bondo and this will add more weight to allow the cover to lay over the enclosure as long as this is how you have it designed.

As far as the vibrations thing, I use single side foam tape that's 1/4" thick to act as an anti-vibration material between the cover and the enclosure. You could use Hush Matting but it doesn't conform to the curves as nice as foam tape does.

hey man looking good! the thickness of the cover should be fine

just some advice for the next one you do soak the fleece in resin then make up a mix of resin and body filler 50/50 use some cream hardner and the liquid hardner and while the original resin you put on the cover is still wet start brushin the bondo/resin mix on. Then apply your chop mat to the underneith of the panel this way you dont have to use a huge amount of bondo to smooth the panel out and it will sand like Bondo too makes for a really quick turn around.

thanks for the responses . yea the cover is purely cosmetic . it goes over the ported boc and amp box . good idea on the foam tape . also thanks for the tip . i already have it leveled out with the 50/50 bondo resin mix . any tips on mounting it . i was thinking double sided tape or velcro maybe .

I have a question for you.  In this picture it looks like you have stapled your fleece to your wood frame and yet in later pictures it looks like you have removed just the resin soaked fleece from the trunk leaving the wood frame behind.  Is this in fact what you did?  If so, how did you get the resin to release from the wood given that it was secured to the wood and the soaked with resin, it shouldhave bonded to the wood.  I can see the aluminum foil which wouldn't allow the fleece to adhere to sub box but then did you just pull out the staples?  Also, it doesn't look like you used aluminum foil around the amp rack.

Very nic

around the sub box was stapled and the amp rack in back of the seat was stapled . around the sub i just pryed the staples out .while doing that it cracked the resin around the corners off the circle .around the back seat i just cut it where i needed it with a cut off wheel and pulled the excess strip off where it was stapled .the top amp box was also stapled on the mdf piece that holds the plexi was just held on by double sided tape . this way when i pulled out the mold the top piece of mdf over the amp box came off with the mold , i did that so i can drop the plexi straght into the cover . i also pulled the saples out of that just like the sub box . because i didnt put tin foil on that piece ,it bonded to the mdf and is part if the cover . it is also good that way because now theres a baseon the bottom of the cover so that it could be mounted .
