xm direct and kenwood

 i am going to install an xm direct unit to a kenwood kvt-617dvd .i have a kenwood cd changer to the cd changer port of the brain. can i hook the xm direct to the navigation port on the brain? or is there a y connector to connect it to the changer ? i would like to keep thecd changer installed. i have tried a search of this site and can only find trouble shooting for other stereos,none for kenwood. any help is appreciated.rnemtb

You need a kenwood changer switcher. It's call a kca-s210a, & it has a 1 5L changer input & 2 5L outputs plus a set of rca audio inputs for another device. its about $100 retail. Unfortunately, terk didn't put a y cable on the xm adapter like on the Pioneer & Alpine version.

the xm direct eliminates the need for a modulator,it is just like adding xm to an sattelite ready hu.rnemtb

Yeah, a mod would destroy the whole reason for having the XM direct piece

I thought we where talkin audio not text. At my store we have an xm setup which I thought was called xm direct and it has it's own external screen and thats where I got lost. So this kenwood is not sat. ready then? Jeremey1000 Has Spoken

the kvt-617 dvd hu is sattelite ready for sirius. the xm direct is a cotrol unit and digital adapter . the hu has only screen . the xm direct is just a reciever that attaches to the hu . the hu is where all the control functions are used .the hu does not have a sattelite reciever built in.rnemtb
