My memphis 12" subs recommend 1cu/ft for each speaker for an sealed closure..  Is this necessary?  How would  1.3 cu/ft per speaker effect the subs performance?

No, that should work fine. I usually build mine a little to the larger specs anyway.

Also, I have been told angled subs hit harder.  Is this true?  I have been told to stay away from subs that are completely vertical they need to be mounted with an angle.

Another quetion.  Is it better to have the subs seperated or open to each other in the box?

Lol subs at an angle hit harder?? Um...this is very vehicle and application dependent.
But I'd say there isn't much of a difference generally.
If you're gonna go sealed I'd suggest making separate chambers for each woofer...if one fails the other is not affected by the doubled airspace.
Also giving your woofers will extend your low end bass a lil...but woofer control will go down a little bit as will power handling...I wouldn't worry much about it...as it is only point 3 cu ft more

I think he is referring to the line of thinking that a square box causes sound waves inside the box to interfere with the subwoofer excursion (which is incorrect). Give it proper airspace and make sure that the enclosure is solid with NO flexing...and I, too recommend separate chambers. Not only will one not be affected by doubled air space if the other fails...if there is a tear or you are sending the driver to be fixed, you'll still be able to use the sub that's left. Otherwise you have to totally shutdown your subs.

I feel strange. I have deja vu and amnesia at the same time.

Or keep playing the other sub but with a MASSIVE .75 inch deep port...dunno what that tuning is though but it would prolly sound like fresh steaming doggy poop.
Matter of fact I am working on a Decware Low Rider Box that is a bandpass box and uses 8 holes as the ports...the depth of the ports is the 3/4 inch wood itself...box design is sweet but I can't give out the prints lol...must buy em to see for yourself...Its supposed to have high output but with a flat response from 30Hz to 130 Hz...thats all i can tell you guys lol
