hello i have a 2004 malibu classic, i can not get the remote start to work. the car will try to start then shut down, but will not run. i have a 555l module. so i bought another one figuring the first on was bad. the car still does the same. i have a hornet 553t system.

There is 2 special things about this car 1. It has the Pass-Key III Anti-theft system this is the transponder type system.2. Your acc wire and your start wire is the same wire it is a muti-plexed system.Car manufacturers used this for door locks now they are starting to do it on the ignition switch.

Better use 556UW the customer need "lost" the key. and the accesory is brown so make sure the accesory ouput from the alarm when you remote start the car , the car need to see drop the voltaje from the accesory and then start the car . Y dont need the remote start wire ouput , so dont conect.

The Chevrolet Classic has PASSLock II......... no PASS-Key, no 556U.

dude222, what is the Security light in the dash doing when you try to start? Comes on and goes out, or flashing?

How is your 555L wired?

The last 2004 Malibu I did I used the hybrid PASSKEY Transponder/Passlock module from bypasskit.com It worked great and very easy to use. I don't believe that the standard bypass module would work on the '04 Malibu but does work on the '03

I am with chris on this one. The classic should be the same wiring as the 03 malibu. Easy check, put the key in the cylinder in the off position and see if it starts then.

The Chevrolet Classic was the old-style Malibu. They continued making that car through the 2005 model year. I was for fleet sales only, if I'm not mistaken.

Whenever you see what looks like a last-generation Malibu on the road, but it simply says "Classic" on the trunk, it's a 2004 or 2005, and is probably a used rental car.

NOTE: dude222's using of "Malibu Classic" is incorret.

The last Malibu Classic was from 1987, back when you could get real cars with rear-wheel-drive and frames.

The 2004-2005 version is simply called the Chevrolet Classic; the Malibu name is not used.

the malibu 03 is paskey II and the malibu 04 and up is paskey III so malibu require 556UW and I just did one like a week ago and is easy.

the car is not a used rental car, it was bought new off the lot. as for the (malibu classic) when i talked to the dealer i told them all it said was classic on the trunk ,i had to give them the vin number they told me it was a malibu, same with the auto parts stores.now that said, back to the problem. i found that the tach wire did not give me the voltage require to stay running. i had to program it to see engine voltage.

thanks to anyone who tried to help, and not tried to give a lesson.
