alright this might be a dumb question but i live in wisconsin and its cold lol. playing my subs in the cold wont hurt them right? if the surround is cold/hard playing at low volume will it loosen them up? from the cold will condensation build up inside of the sub during play/ heating up and possibly damage the sub? thanks alot guys

I've always heard to let them warm up first (not blast them as soon as you get into an ice cold car). All things electronic have operating temperatures. When I went through some rough winters in West Virginia I would play the subs as soon as I got into the car, but not at high volumes right away.

alright and the cold air will make them play different im guessing, as air will be colder and harder to push, or no? lol

Dude... USE THE SEARCH FEATURE... you are getting a bit rediculous, asking questions that have been asked over and over. Stop asking these kinds of lame ass questions, when they've already been beaten to death a dozen times!
STOP IT!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Yes, subs will perform differently at different altitudes and different air densities.

And actually, that is wrong. The sub will perform absolutely identically, whatever the altitude or temperature of the air... the AIR performs differently, however.

Finally snapped ya huh David? I've been close myself over the last week or so! This place has been like a backed up grease trap.
There is no such thing as free installation!

I've got no problems being wrong, it's how we learn.
I'm not a pro installer, never claimed to be. But I do know basic physics. And denser air is harder to move, and will affect the sound waves. I agree with haemphyst that the sound will be different due to the air density, but I still believe the speaker will be affected as well (albiet a minute difference). Afterall it's just a diaphram (just like what moves your lungs). It's harder to breathe at different altitudes and air densities because your diaphram has to work harder to push and pull the air. Stupid analogy I know, but wth!

I think Dave is suffering from BDS (Beer Deprivation Syndrome). I've seen it before...not a pretty site playing subs in the cold -- posted image.
