I put some aftermarket actuators in a newer car 05 Aveo. Before I put them in the driver door will not lock, even manually, with the plunger if the door is open (new security feature or something). Once the door closes the lock mechanism moves freely. Problem is once you put an actuator in there, and say hit the lock switch with the door open it will lock all doors except the drivers. But with the drivers door closed it will lock/unlock all day long. I'm gonna be putting a keyless/alarm/rs setup in this car so it's no big deal, but I was wondering if anyone has gotten around it?

If you installing actuator in the driver door you have jam the door first and then install the actuator , and when you finish unjamed

I did this, but I'm saying if the door is open and the user hits the lock button. The actuator in the drivers door simply won't lock, any way around this?

sounds like a honda......it wont let you lock the drivers door without it being shut.........or a volkswagen..

oh well thats how it works.........if you put actuators in then thats how the car works........without the door being latched it wont lock............sounds like a good feature to me ( for chicks who lock their keys in the car)

i wounldnt worry about it

Thanks, its actually an 05 BASE Chevy Aveo. Good feature because my girl would lock her keys in there! I'll be putting in an alarm/rs/keyless this weekend so it should take care of this.
Thanks for the help.
