Long Range Remote Starts

According to DEI reps... (from our last area meeting), they have stated that with the Clifford Matrix 3.5, you should at (MINIMUM) receive 1200' range in "certain" areas.  According to them these "areas" are described as NO possible influenece by magnetic fields in or around the area of the vehicle.  This was a question brought up to one of them after customers complained of NOT being able to perform operations in areas that had numerous power lines,phone lines, buried cable, and chain link fencing.  As for myself... I opted for the NEW G5 system (well above $500.00 installed), but as far as range...  I "LITERALLY" do NOT have to see it or be within 1,000' to perform ANY functions.15+ years in automotive electrical schematics

I used the 2 way compustar in my own car the long range one forgot the model number. I live in a building and always parked that car on the street and most of the time at least 1000 feet away. I would start the car every morning with no problem and remember I live in a building on the first floor, inside of a circle with no way of direct view of car. So from personal experience I would recommend the compustar. The latest model number is P2WSS-S which will be available soon. 6000 feet range and i know the cost of mine was around 185.00 which was the older model with the super sized remote.

Any of the Canadian version Compustar systems have a consistant range of 3000' and up to 5000' line of sight. The new SH systems are also good to 2000' line of sight. I have these systems in my own personal vehicle and would recommend these to anyone who wants a long range system.Jeff

I have been using Ultrastarts, I have field tested the 1270 tl and on average 1400' is the norm, the 1270xlr is supposed to have 3000' of range I have only had time to test 3 of them 2-2850' and 1 was over 3100'.  On 2 way pagers the 3265tl performs consistenylty at between 3/4 of a mile and 1 mile. IMO I wouldn't even consider a bulldog remote start.

Go with DEI's Viper 5900 SST combo. SST (Spread Spectrum Technology) yields 5000 feet or more in some cases and it's two way! See here https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=81335&KW=5900Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

Viper 160XVL looks good, too bad there is no manual transmision version...or is there? I know Compustar has one. What about Ultra Start? I heard they are the canadian version of DEI? They seem more resonabily priced than all comparable models.

Didn't DEI start making 1mile remote start/alarms.
