Today I was in the process of installying a remote start in my 02 focus 5 speed and after i had everything hooked up i couldn't even start the car with my key. I'm using the peripheral NSS and a viper 791, my question is how do i hook up the NSS so that it works properly? As soon as i eliminated the NSS from the system the remote start worked without a problem. I think i may have the PURPLE / white and purple wires from the NSS hooked up improperly, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The purple and purple white should only be hooked to the remote starts starter output so that should not effect your ability to start the vehicle with the key.  the  791 is a security module right?  where in line did you connect the nss?  at the remote starts negative output or after the relay pack at the positive start output....how is your starter kill wired in?  doodoodoo

I beg to differ. The 791 has built-in starter kill.  Here's my suggestion.

Cut vehicle's starter wire.

Large green of 791 connects to starter wire at key.

Large purple of 791 connects to purple of NSS.

PURPLE / white of NSS goes to starter wire to starter side.

If starter kill of 791 is active then obviously vehicle won't start with key.

Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

no your wrong....the nss is a "neutral safety switch" for remote start it doesnt matter whether or not its got a starter kill being installed.........its only there to prevent the vehicle from remote starting if you install it the way you described the vehicle will never start

plus if you wire it that way the only way to make it start with the key will be to perform the nss' activation sequence or else the internal relay on the nss wont complete the circuit.......keep the nss out of the starter cut circuit....there is no continuity between the purple and purple white until the nss sees that sequence.........

hook it up to the negative start output from the remote start before the relay pack...........not the second negative start....the negative start thats part of the ribbon cable and you should be fine.........

im sorry that post should have read

- wire in the purple and purple white to the negative start output from the remote start before the relay pack...........not the second negative start....the negative start thats part of the ribbon cable, and you should be fine.........It will always prevent the vehicle from remote starting if it hasnt seen the activation sequence.......and it will not interfere with the vipers starter kill or the ability to start it with the key......

I have never installed a NSS, but I believe it just breaks the connection of a wire if the exit routine isn't done. If I am correct....
Wire it to the BLACK/ white neutral safety input of the Viper 791.
