I'm installing a Prostart CT-3400TW in an 04 GMC Sierra with a GM-SL Bypass module. Can anyone clarify which wires I need to connect between the 3400  and the GM-SL. Also, what fuctionality will the GM-SL give me? Do I have to hook up additional wires for door locks?

Can someone explain how Passlock 2 works. I have a 2004 Sierra that has Passlock 2 but will start with a valet key. I'm confused, where's the security?

the GM-SL will basically give you everything from doorlocks, to doorpin, to park lights and so on,

basically you will hook up the doorlock wires from the prostart to the bypass, you will hook up positive parklights from your prostart to the bypass and so on

the ground out when running wire from your remote starter will go to the bypass, the data wire from the bypass will go to the purple wire at the diagnostics connector under the driver side of dash

just follow the directions and I am sure you will be all right

You will want to use the negative parklight wire going to the GM-SL.. not the positive...

Does anyone know the specifics of Passlock I, II & III. I have a 2004 GMC Sierra with Passlock II but I don't think the key has anything fancy in it. Where's the security?

the ign cylinder generates an R code during a specific time window during crank.... if the BCM doesnt see this R code within it's specified time window it shuts down the fuel system....

it is a different system/technology than a transponder system like PK III .....

the bypass module learns the correct code and then generates and sends this code to the BCM during R/S......

Where's the security then, is there anything in the key? What's to stop someone from jamming something in the key cylinder and turning it?

There are two sensors within the tumbler assembly of the lock cylinder. If they are not activated at the same time, or smoothly the vehicle will crank, but then will kill right away.
