Hi,
I am putting a remote start system into my 1990 Buick Lesabre (FWD) 3.8 V6. I know the wiring diagram says that the tach wire is located at the coil pack, but is there any one that can tell me a better place to tap into the Tach wire, rather than the coil pack or injectors. Mabey the ECM (if so, what color wire would that be) or any other place that I can tap into it where I do not have to run the wire all over the engine compartment.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

On the passenger side of the firewall you will see a black plastic cover. Near the middle of this cover is a semi round hole with a loomed harness coming out if it. The harness is about 2 inches wide. This is the harness that goes to the motor. Inside the harness you will find a violet/white wire. This is the tach wire. Check it with a meter first to confirm it. You should get a varying AC voltage reading of between 1 and 9 volts. it varies with RPM.
