I have everything installed, but when I arm the system it gives a HOOD warning.

As far as I can tell there is only 1 hood pinswitch wire to hook up. The way it works is it will show hood up when the wire is to ground and will report hood closed with the circuit is open. I have tried both ways and still get the hood warning beep when I arm.

It wont let me try to remote start when the hood is opened either.

...any ideas? I'm stumped.

Did you use the Dark Blue or the Gray input? Disconnect it at the remote starter. Are you still getting warnings? If not, then add your own hoodswitch.

I used the Gray input on H3/4. Which dark blue wire were you referring to?

I'm going to be adding my own hood pinswitch when I get this figured out.

I also noticed that when I arm my system while the dome lights are still on (dims after ~20-30 seconds) it also gives me the DOOR warning. If I rearm or arm after the dome light is out, it won't go on. I'm not too worried about that...

Could there be something else that is hooked up wrong to make the hood warning be on?

I'm sorry for taking shortcuts. I meant the H1/7 multiplex input dark blue which is normally used for trunk pin switch but at times has been used for hood pin.

Yes, you should use the gray H3/4 for the hood pin. I suggest you don't use the OEM hood pin, add your own.

It's normal for it to give a door warning as it was designed to remind the user to turn off domelight in case he forgot. In a case where you have delayed domelight, you may leave it that way or reprogram the security to disregard the delay. This is called door bypass chirp.

If the bypass chirp is turned off, no bypass chirp will be generated, even if a door is accidentally left open.

I don't have H1/7 hooked up... Also, H3/4 works by triggering the alarm/warning when it is going to ground, so if I leave it floating (not connected) it should show the hood as being closed, but it's not.

By your statement i think you are using the factory hoodpin switch? If so, you should diode isolate it from the BCM. This will give the false reading you describe. To get rid of the door warnig, you need to turn the bypass notification off in the programming....

There isn't a factory hood pinswitch for the Explorers (at least not the 4 door's). I plan on installing one though.

However, I did figure it out this morning.

I used the wrong brake wire. Brake+ and Hood- are both on zone 1.... now it's working!
